This work is the first in a series of seven that were first presented as part of the exhibition Woven All of Dream and Error in September 2024, at Hošek Contemporary, Berlin.

Walk 1 (Anhalter Bahnhof) presents a nine-image grid of film stills, arranged in chronological order from top left to bottom right. The stills are taken from the film And but one sureness in our truth may lie (a work which was likewise also first presented at Woven All of Dream and Error in 2024).

The stills show part of one of the routes walked by the artists in the research phase that preceded the exhibition, where they walked along the routes of abandoned railway lines in Berlin and the surrounding area, while also carrying speakers playing machine-learning-generated audio of “hallucinated” trains.

The walk that resulted in the images visible in Walk 1 (Anhalter Bahnhof) was undertaken along a route from the now-abandoned Anhalter Bahnhof in Berlin, walking south out of the city.

Woven All of Dream and Error, the surrounding exhibition, presented films, images, and sounds, and aimed to juxtapose two eras in the history of technology: the sites of abandoned railway lines, and the emergence of machine learning—or what has generally come to be referred to as artificial intelligence. Walk 1 (Anhalter Bahnhof) has been produced in an edition of three, plus one artists’ proof. The work is printed at 300dpi resolution on 300gsm matte acid-free paper, and hand-assembled by the artists. The work has been presented in an unvarnished basswood frame.
